Commonwealth Games

On Thursday 5th June 2014 I was asked, along with a group of other Year 10 pupils, to attend the Junior Schools’ Commonwealth Games at Leigh Beck School.

The opening ceremony was fantastic, each school had chosen a country to represent. It was great to see the pupils so excited to start the games.

Pupils from key stage 1 and 2 took part in fun races such as egg and spoon and bean bag throw as well as other athletic events such as discus, javelin and hurdles. We had responsibility for running the events, organising the children, scoring and making sure the pupils had a good experience.

The closing ceremony involved a speech from high profile athlete Jessica Judd from Canvey, presentations of medals to each year and to the overall winner.

It was an exciting day for both the young pupils involved and for us.
