The weekend of November 12th was a thrilling one for one of our rough and tough Year 10s, Haydn Gillman (left). He was set to fight in his first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu English Open Championship for juniors and juveniles. The training had been done with the help of his coaches at Lamude BJJ Academy, Basildon. The stage (or should we say mat!) was set and Haydn fought long and hard against opponents several years his senior. The hard work and dedication paid off though, as Haydn came 2nd in Britain – an amazing achievement for someone so young! With his sights now firmly set on the European Championships, Haydn is looking to fight his way into the future. Well done Haydn and break a leg.

(Though maybe I shouldn’t encourage the breaking of limbs!)
