Tot’s Battle With Heart Disease Sparks Fundraiser

Fundraising students collected more than £1,000 for a heart charity.

In recognition of National Heart Week, students at Cornelius Vermuyden School, in Dinant Avenue, Canvey, were inspired to raise the money for the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, after hearing about a six-year old patient’s battle during a special assembly.

Katie Loughran was born with tetralogy of fallot – requiring her to have open heart surgery at 15 months and a further operation later this year.

Students raised the money fdrom the same of keyrings, wristband and pens throughout the week, together with a non-uniform day.
