STEM Family Challenge 2019

Henry Emoni - Lead Practitioner for Mathematics
February 5, 2019

On Friday 1st February 2018, we hosted our third STEM Family Challenge. The event was delivered by EDT, an education charity and funded by Make Happen.

The evening provided an opportunity for our students to work collaboratively with their siblings, parents, grandparents and other family members in building a Roller Coaster. The venue was packed out; 31 families is a record number.

It was a fantastic event judging by the feedback from pupils and parents. Below is a message I received via email:-

Just to say thank you for organising another great evening event. The family enjoyed the challenge of building the rollercoaster from straws, cardboard and tape for the marble to travel around. Such a good number of teams for the event, so we were pleased with fourth place. The food and drink were thoughtful and as generous as ever.

Thank you, and I look forward to the next annual event which scarily will be Lewis’ last year at Cornelius!

Mrs White and Family

Thanks must go to Linda McGregor, Kitchen staff and SKANSKA for making the event a success.

Megan Armitage’s family won the award for the best rollercoaster - this was judged by the length of time it took the marble to travel.
