On Thursday 16th July 2015 students arrived for the Cornelius Vermuyden annual sports awards dressed to impress in their finest attire ready to walk down the red carpet where they were greeted with welcoming soft drinks before taking their seats for an inspirational evening complete with great food, fantastic music and the opportunity to dance the evening away once their tremendous dedication and commitment to sport at Cornelius had been celebrated.
This occasion was made even more memorable as the students were joined by Lesley Owusu, an experienced and versatile international athlete who has represented Great Britain at the European, World and Commonwealth stages. Miss Owusu gave an incredibly motivating speech and presented our many award winners with their trophies.
The evening will live in the memories of the students for many years to come as students couldn’t fail to be impressed by the achievements of Lesley Owusu and the important messages delivered in her ‘Believe to Achieve’ presentation.
Amy Keeble, Head of PE said “the staff and students had a fantastic evening, being able to celebrate the sporting successes and commitment of the students at Cornelius Vermuyden is a highlight of the school calendar. For the students to share the evening with Lesley will provide inspiration for everyone to believe in their dreams and achieve everything they want in life in whichever career or sport they pursue in the future.”
