It was a great pleasure to be accompanied by students; Michaela Aubrey, Deputy Head Girl, Taylor Garner, Deputy Head Boy, Darcie Cleaver and William Whitehair from Year 7, who represented the school at the Remembrance Service at the Canvey Island Paddocks on Sunday 8th November. This annual event is one of the key events in the life of Canvey Island which bring all sections of our community together in an act of remembrance.
At Cornelius Vermuyden we feel it is important that our students understand our shared history especially important events and honour those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, who gave their lives that we may live in freedom.
On Wednesday 11th November Mrs a Cotgrove, Mason Roddy and Sydney Whelan from Year 7 and Shannon Gonzalez and Callum Cuthbert from Year 11 (deputy head boy & girl) also attended the service at the Knightswick Centre. A very moving experience.
I was also amazed with how many of our students attended on Sunday representing the many groups on Canvey Island; Sea Scouts, Guides and Air Training Corps. So well done to all of you. What a fantastic community Cornelius Vermuyden School and Canvey Island is.
