For the first time in what seems years we were pleased to put on a school show- Matilda Jnr – The Musical. The cast was a lovely mix of all year groups allowing the Year 11’s to showcase their talent and also act as inspiration for the lower school. Katie Logan played Matilda with confidence and flair – her acting matched by the quality of her singing. Tillie Jacobs made a formidable Agatha Trunchbull supported by the sweet and understanding Miss Honey – played by the talented Macy Kiddell, Ruby-Ray Cottington showed us a nicely trashy Mrs Wormwood and Freddie Simson as a convincing camp  Rudolfo! The set chorus pieces were bursting with energy and it was clear all cast were loving the experience and I can’t thank them enough for all their hard work.

Having seen many shows at Cornelius I can confidently say it was the best one yet. A huge thank you to Miss Quinn for putting it on, Miss Mayhew for choreography and Mrs Hare, Mrs Stead and Mrs Wood for their help and support through the process.

Before the show at school 40 cast and students went to the West End to see how the pros do it. Hermione Skinner from year 7 said “it was my first show and it was amazing! It was so big and exciting with all the lights and lasers. There were swings on the stage which looked really good fun but we couldn’t do that in our show. I would definitely want to be involved in the next show. “

A huge thank you once again to all students and staff for such a great show
