Personal Development

We expect our pupils to achieve well, to behave well, and to step confidently into the next stage of their lives after leaving us. That does not happen by accident. It is taught, modelled and experienced.

We deliberately expose pupils to opportunities beyond their everyday experience. Universities. Employers. The Arts. Sports. Leadership. Community engagement. We do this because many of our pupils will not encounter these opportunities unless school provides them.

Personal Development ensures that pupils understand the wider world, know the pathways available to them and develop the confidence and character to pursue them.

It is not separate from academic success. It strengthens it. When pupils feel proud, informed and ambitious, attendance improves, behaviour improves and learning improves.

Our purpose is simple: no pupil leaves Cornelius limited by what they have not seen, experienced or been taught to believe about themselves.
