MATHEMATICS - CURRICULUM

Our curriculum meets the individual needs of all pupils across the full ability range. Delivering a differentiated and supported curriculum encourages active learning, which equips pupils with a powerful set of tools including logical reasoning, problem solving skills, and the ability to think in abstract ways.

Pupils will be timetabled for Mathematics 4 x 1 hour periods per week.

The final examination consists of two written papers (50% each), one of which is a non-calculator paper and one is a calculator. The programme of study places an emphasis on problem solving, functionality and mathematical thinking as well as full and reasoned answers with explicit workings out.

Final decisions on the appropriate tier of entry for each pupil will be taken in the spring term of Year 11 based upon progress during the course and performance in the mock examinations.
