ENGLISH - CURRICULUM

At Key Stage 3, the department follows a varied curriculum, studying: novels such as "Private Peaceful "by Michael Morpurgo and "Lord of the Flies" by William Golding; poetry across the ages; plays such as "The Terrible Fate of Humpty Dumpty" by David Calcutt; Shakespeare plays including "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "Much Ado about Nothing" and "Macbeth."; as well as a varied range of non -fiction texts.

At Key Stage 4, the current cohort will complete an English Language IGCSE qualification, with the Cambridge International Board and a Literature IGCSE through Edexcel.

Both of these qualifications are examined through a combination of coursework and external examination.

From 2017, pupils will complete 2 GCSEs in English Language and Literature with AQA. Both qualifications will be assessed through 100% terminal examination.
