Year 9 Design & Technology Trip to the V&A

Miss Flippance
February 27, 2017

On 23rd of February the yr9 D&T students went to visit the V&A. It was an unusual trip as we weren't there to look at the many beautiful objects the museum holds. In preparation for the new D&T GCSE in 2019 we are beginning to work with 'contexts'. The context for the next project is 'Museum'.

So we went to look for opportunities for improvement to the visitor experience. We visited many different galleries including Jewellery, Furniture and Asia. Each gallery had its own style and its own specific visitor problems.

Something all students noticed was the lack of signage and the inaccessibility of some exhibits for all visitors, especially those with mobility issues. They will now back at Cornelius work on designing products to address these problems. An inspiring day was had by all.
