STEM Family Challenge

Henry Emoni - Lead Practitioner for Mathematics
February 6, 2017

On Friday 3rd February 2017, we hosted our first EDT STEM Family Challenge, the event was organised by EDT an education charity and funded by The Royal Institution.

This was an opportunity for our students to work collaboratively with their siblings, parents, grandparents and other family members to solve a variety of challenges which included building a Crane.

There were talks about University studies and Industries, it was an insight into further education and career path for students in attendance.

The feedback from Parents and pupils was positive, one student said "Sir, I found it inspiring and it was also fun.” Mrs Johnstone the mother of Zoe (Year 9) and Ryan (Year 7) said she will go away and prepare for next year’s event, it really was a fantastic evening and thanks must go to Linda, Sally and SKANSKA staff for their support.

Grace Smith’s family won the award for the best crane.

Already looking forward to next year’s event.
