The cast of Macbeth performed their production at the Shakespeare Schools Festival held at The Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch on November 9th.
The project immersed pupils in the language of William Shakespeare, which was both inspiring and challenging; successful communication of the story and language was key for the audience to understand Macbeth.
During their seven-week rehearsal period, pupils from year 8, 9 and 10 improved their performance and communication skills, developed in confidence, and learnt to value the true necessity of teamwork. Our pupil Technical Director, Nathan Leonard, designed the lighting and sound with admirable attention to detail and even worked with the theatre technicians to ensure that performance night ran smoothly.
Our cast consisted of the following pupils: Amiee Knight, Alexandra Lawrence, Ellie-Marie Ashford, Emily Atkin, Harry Blight, Kaitlyn Wines, Kezia Eshun-Parker, Macy French, Maddie Wright, Maisie Grimsey, Molly Vanderweiden and Oscar Preston.
They all performed at an outstanding level and performance night was a celebration of our pupils’ dedication and hard work across the local community. Cornelius Vermuyden pupils truly were a credit to the school and themselves.
