Darwin House awards 2017

The 2016 – 2017 academic year was extremely successful for Darwin House on many fronts, particularly in becoming House and Sports Champions for the second year in a row. Therefore, the first Darwin House assembly for this new year was the perfect opportunity to present the awards to the outstanding students. This was the third annual Darwin House awards with the following students receiving recognition for their achievements.

Responsibility award:

For receiving outstanding feedback from Northwick Park Nursery while on placement.

Ella Senior, Beth Holland and Kasey Blackwell (Year 11)

Resilience Awards:

For achieving his target in Maths despite missing 2 terms this year due to undergoing surgery. Jack Bush. (Year 10)

For achieving all of her subject targets after a conscious effort to succeed. Amy Best (Year 10)

Dedication to Art award:

For her beautiful manga mural which she created during Tutor time, which took 2 weeks to complete and was used in assembly. Lucy Dawkins. (Year 10)

Dedication to Sport award:

For their continued dedication to sport at Cornelius Vermuyden School. Through competing in various school teams, and dedicating time to developing skills of students in Years 7 and 8 over the last four years. Olivia Yeo and Grace Sanderson. (Year 11)

For his continued dedication to sport at Cornelius Vermuyden School, by competing in various sports teams, and being an organised sports representative and Captain for Darwin House over the last four years. Brandon Bennett. Year 11)

Finally, the Person of the Year awards which are the most prestigious awards to earn in Darwin House and the winners this year are:

Year 7 Person of the Year:

For his excellent organisational skills in preparing Darwin teams for all sporting events throughout 2016 – 2017. Keagan Dickinson

Year 8 Person of the Year:

For her dedication to school sporting activities and her fantastic organisational skills to ensure Darwin sports teams in Year 8 had 100% attendance. Macie Windsor

Year 9 Person of the Year:

For her persistence in ensuring the Darwin House is at the top on all fronts, and organising members of the House to participate in all events. Lucy House

Year 10 Person of the Year:

For her determination and leadership in sport, representing and helping to guide Darwin teams for all events, especially in the lower school. Grace Sanderson.

Overall Person of the Year: For her achievement in the Jack Petchey speak out challenge this year, her commitment to Darwin House, and most of all for being selected as Head Girl at Cornelius Vermuyden School for the 2017 – 2018 Academic Year. Macy French

This new academic year provides another brilliant opportunity for all Darwin students to reach the same heights as last year, and hopefully we can celebrate as many fantastic achievements again this time next year.
