Cornelius Vermuyden GCSE Results

Cornelius Vermuyden School is celebrating today following excellent GCSE results for this year. 75% of students achieved a ‘standard’ pass grade (4 or above) in English and 66% in Maths. ‘Strong’ pass measures in both subjects exceeded the outcomes in 2017. There was also a big increase this year in the proportion of students achieving 7+ or A*/A grades across the breadth of curriculum subjects, this highlights Cornelius Vermuyden’s commitment to traditional values and a broad and balanced curriculum during a turbulent time in 11 to 16 educational reform.

Headteacher Carol Skewes commented: ‘We are all absolutely delighted with these results at Cornelius Vermuyden School. They are the culmination of some incredibly hard work from both Year 11 students and teaching staff. It has been a challenging year for all schools with so many changes from Government. The significant increase in the proportion of grade 7’s and above alongside A*/As achieved across a range of subjects is especially pleasing as we have really targeted this area. We are also delighted with the progress outcomes achieved by our Year 10 students who sat their GCSE English Literature a year early and achieved 70% grade 4 and above and 48% grade 5 and above. There is much to celebrate, and I would like to take this opportunity to say well done to all of our students’.

As always there were some outstanding individual performances.
