November 29, 2017

Cornelius Vermuyden students rose to the challenge when asked to build a shoebox for the Samaritans Purse. Students filled 56 shoeboxes to be sent to those in need. Head teacher Carol Skewes said, “The students were very generous, benevolent and selfless in donating goods for the boxes. All together there were 56 boxes full of goodies that will be distributed to underprivileged children around the world.I am very proud of the students at Cornelius Vermuyden School. Yet again they prove to be charitable, kind and thoughtful.”

The Canvey Island Rotary Club sponsored the event through the Rotary Interact Club within the school. Canvey Rotary Club President Malcolm Tugwood remarked, “I was so impressed by the enthusiasm and initiative of the students for the Shoe Box Appeal. They have shown the true meaning of Christmas by giving joy to those less fortunate. They are an inspiration to all. Well done Cornelius Vermuyden School”
