Art Exhibition 13th July

Carol Skewes - Headteacher
July 16, 2017

On Thursday 13th July we held our Design, Art and Technology Summer Exhibition. This proved to be a great success, with so many proud pupils, parents and staff members attending the event.

The exhibition was a fantastic celebration of all our pupils’ achievements over the year. Fine Art and Photography work was displayed throughout the street area, along with hanging laser cut lampshades and large scale sculptures. Food pupils catered the event, making and serving their own canapés, whilst Yr 9 pupils played beautifully in an orchestra as background music for the exhibition.

The school was buzzing from visitors who admired the paintings, lanterns, wood turning and music performed from some very talented students.

See below for a few examples of the artwork, including an oil panel painting created by Mr Rodriguez, an Art and DT teacher at Cornelius Vermuyden School. Mr Rodriguez painted it for Mrs Skewes; Headteacher.

Mrs Skewes was extremely delighted and honoured to receive such a worthy painting. It would not look out of place in any art gallery.

It is a copy of an original portrait of Cornelius Vermuyden by Michiel Jansz Miereveld (1567-1641). The painting was created using the same techniques and processes as the Dutch Masters of the era.

Thank you to all parents and pupils that attended and we are looking forward to this now becoming an annual event.
